Brooklyn Continues to Stronghold Shoegaze with Buff Ginger

Once again, Brooklyn lends itself as a burgeoning pool of talent, as newest sensation Buff Ginger makes waves in the underground shoegaze circuit.

Buff Ginger, led by Ry Minter, recently unveiled their latest EP New Jokes, marking a significant milestone as their first extended project since 2021. Released on December 1, New Jokes can be aptly described as an ultra-fuzzy fever dream — wildly blistering and equally soothing at the same time.

In an interview with CanvasRebel, Minter shared some insight revealing a unique perspective on creativity. "I was never really artistically or musically inclined as a kid, but I always hated the idea of someone having authority over me."

It's only natural that this sentiment is permeated in every facet of their art, proving that the music isn't just about simply the music itself, it really is self-expression at its finest. To end with a quote from Ry, “When I make a record, I want the person listening to feel something, yah know?We know, and we feel it.
