It’s obvious that Frankie LaCarrubba pours her heart into her craft. While listening to her latest release, “Bergamot,” two words immediately come to mind: sophisticated and soulful.

She has managed to forego any temptation to aim her music at TikTok virality. The result being a fully developed song with beauty weaved throughout its entirety. The song builds to an impressive guitar solo at the end by Hilltop Swim Club. When it comes to Frankie’s collaborations with Hilltop Swim Club and Caleb Matheson on production, you can bank on being satisfied; this song is no exception.

The lyrics are touching on their own but when experienced as a whole, they contribute a new depth to the meaning for the song. Frankie knows what it feels like to be lost in someone else, and whether or not you can relate, she will make you feel it too. Her command of figurative language is not to be ignored, employing metaphors of “chains,” “yellow brick roads,” and “red coats,” and those are just a few out of many. Frankie succeeds in highlighting her entrancing vocals, advanced guitar playing, and well-thought out imagery.
