When is Gracie Abrams Going To Drop “Close To You”?
Gracie Abrams’ unreleased song “Close To You” has started to pick up steam on TikTok in the past few weeks. The song, which Abrams wrote at 16 years old, has notes of 2013 Lorde that fans can’t get enough of. While the snippet that continuously bubbles up on TikTok is only about 13 seconds, the shining hook is on full display: “Pull the trigger on the g*n / I gave you when we met / I wanna be close to you / Break my heart and start a fire / You’ve got me overnight / Just let me be close to you.”
In a video taken at a Gracie Abrams concert, a fan asks “can you release ‘Close To You?’” To which Abrams responded, “I love that song, I do. I will try my very best to figure out a version that feels appropriate for where I’m at now,” she said. “It’s a funny thing when clips like that resurface like 6 years after you’ve written them… I’m just very much in a different stage of my life than I was when I wrote that song.”
To sum that quote up, fans will not be getting the same song that they’ve fallen in love with on TikTok. The rest of that clip makes it seem like there is the possibility that the 24-year-old artist will drop a version of that song that is more tailored to the sound she’s going for right now.
