Jack Wharff Drops Viral Country Anthem “Richmond City Jail”

Jack Wharff, a rising county artist out of Richmond, Virginia, just dropped his viral song “Richmond City Jail.” It is exactly what we’ve been waiting for. With a massive chorus, insane guitar and banjo solos, and lyrics that paint a story clearer than day, Wharff’s new drop is destined for the biggest stage.

The 20-year-old artist details the story of a runaway convict who ends up in the Richmond City Jail, taking listeners on a full-fledged journey through all four minutes of the track. On the chorus, Wharff sings, “What’s gonna happen to when I get home / Will I ever see your pretty face a again / And in the morning when my mom wakes up / I’ll be lying in the Richmond City Jail.” Clearly, his lyricism is on a whole different level from most other artists.

With the backing of his band, The Tobacco Flatts, the group has proven that they are next up in the country scene. Following the release of their song “Burnin’ it Down,” the Jack Wharff & The Tobacco Flatts have become an enigma in the alt-country space. They’ve received nods to open for artists artists like Nolan Taylor, Parmalee, and Steve Earle, showing how quickly the groups stock has risen.

Looking forward, expect Jack Wharff to continue building on his already-impressive discography. Songs that he has already teased like “Picture Perfect,” “Moonshine Man” and “45” are on the horizon — keep the budding artist on your radar as he climbs through the industry.
