Mavis’ Second Album ‘Laughing So Hard It Hurts’ Out Now

The gifted artist out of Charlotte, North Carolina, Mavi released his sophomore album titled, Laughing So Hard It Hurts on October 18th and he has most certainly delivered in a way that his fans have hoped for. The album consists of 16 tracks including a video for his song, Baking Soda. Mavi has taken the road less traveled in todays rap game some would say. Listeners should not expect to hear banging 808s and high tempo hi-hats but rather a more simplistic yet complex arrangement of percussion and poetic tone of vocals coming from the 23 year old. Mavi spends treats this album similar to how he treated his first album, Let The Sun Talk, and that is by attempting and succeeding in getting his listeners to unionize the mind, body, and soul. His distinctive beat selection alone will draw you in as that can tell a story within itself, when you add the lyrics of Mavi explaining his story of failures and triumphs, listeners become even more gravitated toward him and on top of that, Mavi raps in a voice that almost seems like he is talking, so listening to him is practically like a conversation with one of your homies in a sense. Fans would compare Mavi to artist, Earl Sweatshirt, who Mavi actually appears on a feature in one of Sweatshirts songs on his 2020 album, Feet of Clay. Although the two artists have similar qualities, Mavi is certainly an individual in the game and he continues to rise as he gains recognition from popular hip hop artists. In fact, he just finished a tour with Jack Harlow and Babyface ray. Who knows whats next for the kid out of Charlotte.
