Legendary Band, Ride, Announces Upcoming Album Titled ‘Interplay’

Legendary English band, Ride, has recently announced their upcoming seventh album, titled Interplay, scheduled for release on March 29. This marks their third album since reuniting in 2014, showcasing their enduring influence in the shoegaze and shoegaze-adjacent scenes. The lead single, "Peace Sign," provides a glimpse into the textures of the album, combining powerful drums, 80s synth-pop nuances, and of course the classic psychedelic shoegaze guitar elements that Ride was first borne from.

With assisted production from Richie Kennedy, (Interpol, Dua Lipa, U2), Interplay promises to showcase a wide array of influences. The band has already openly stated that the album draws from the likes of 80s staples Tears for Fears, Depeche Mode, and U2 — ensuring that Interplay will push the band’s sound further than any of the prior releases.

The album creation and recording process was not without mishaps however. Amidst a frenzied lawsuit process and countless pressures from outside sources, the album was recorded with immense turmoil. However, in an interview with NME, frontman Mark Gardner said that the tumultuous times were “good at really reminding us at what we’re protecting, what we’re valuing”

This resilience is rooted in Ride's journey of disbanding, reforming, and forging a path forward to a renewed peak. Interplay promises to captivate both loyal fans and new audiences with its rich blend of musical exploration and forward-thinking themes.
