YB shares deluxe version of album ‘Wings Of An Angel’

Committed to music since Age 15, and an avid lover of it since 8, YB expands on his journey to the present day in Wings of An Angel. Sharing his love for God as well, YB incorporates faith into each and every track on this tape. Surprisingly, a large amount of this tape is filled with attitude, and the typical brashness you’d see from another rapper like Freddie Gibbs or Key! have, only this time YB is focused on bringing himself back down to earth by using his journey through faith as the weight which balances his whole being.

Tracks such as “Moshpit'' and “Age 8 freestyle” are much more intertwined with his dialogues about God and religion. YB will share his awe of god and how much of his success is actually due to his relationship with religion. Short interludes like convos with Tammy and convos with myself reinforce the themes of the confidence and courage finds due to faith, and though they are short, they are very purposeful as they fill in gaps between the tracks, especially when the album strays further from those themes and deeper into the more human side of YB. A side that is much more brash.

“NEON FREESTYLE”, “STILL GOING”, “wings of an Angel freestyle”, and “LEBRON FLOW”, almost all come one after the other and each are filled with braggadocious, flex heavy raps. Lines like “they ain’t us, they ain’t clutch”, “I know I been a target”, and “I’d rather live right now” are all very obvious and hardcore statements from YB. Though it might seem that it’s only about his attitude, he sometimes will remind the audience in these same tracks that his demeanor is only like this because he is devoted to God, and he lives with the goal to serve God.

Wings of An Angel serves the goals of YB very well. It is an album that is both hard yet spiritual, experienced yet youthful, filled with truth yet boastful. Under God, YB is unable to experience contradiction.
