YG Marley Takes After His Grandfather with “Praise Jah In The Moonlight”

YG Marley, the grandson of Reggae legend Bob Marley, has kickstarted his career with his debut track “Praise Jah In The Moonlight.” He released the song on December 27, 2023, so far, it has picked up 17 million streams on Spotify in just over a month. Additionally, the song is the #1 song on Spotify’s Viral 50 - USA playlist, racking up hundreds of thousands of streams per day and speaking to the virality of the blossoming artist.

While being the grandson of Bob Marley is a helpful catalyst in launching an artist project, also being the son of Lauryn Hill offers quite the boost, especially when she helps write your debut record. Even though he was born into a family that has an immediately recognizable name on both sides, his music speaks for itself. Utilizing a style parallel to his grandfathers iconic reggae sound, YG is making fans from those who loved his Grandfather, to younger kids who are just discovering the world of reggae.

YG Marley, born Joshua Omaru Marley, features a sample from his grandfathers song “Crisis,” adding to the overall storyline of this brilliant Billboard charting track. If you have’t given “Praise Jah In The Moonlight” a listen, check it out from the links below.
