An Interview with Chaos0911
Dami: How much would you say you’ve grown as an artist since the release of “Dependable” and “Expense”?
Chaos0911: Well, unfortunately I had to step away for a while after the releases due to family situations but it also gave me time to think which route I wanted to take- artist or producer. So now say hello to Chaos the Producer this time. But to answer your question, I have grown tremendously. I try to learn new things every day and put it into my music.
Dami: What type of things would you say you’ve learnt since your hiatus?
Chaos0911: For starters, I learned that being an artist wasn’t the route for me anymore and didn’t make me happy as it used to. I would much rather be behind the computer than in front of the mic. I also learned that you have to stay consistent in releasing material to keep your following. And as always, since shifting my focus on producing, I have learned more about the business and craft.
Dami: What should we expect from Chaos the Producer?
Chaos0911: Well first off, I am still learning the craft so expect me to keep getting better with time. Also, you can be on the lookout for almost daily beats being released for your enjoyment on my YouTube. I would also love to work with other artists and producers as well so be on the lookout for collabs.
Dami: What inspired you to start producing in the first place?
Chaos0911: Well, when I was a teenager, I used to record people in my town rapping on YouTube beats, so that was my start at producing but it wasn’t until about a year ago or so that I ran across a Kyle Beats video on YouTube and saw him making beats and it was awesome so I broke out my old equipment and started learning.
Dami: What type of sounds would you be working on as a producer?
Chaos0911: I would like to discover all genres for the fun of it but, I am focusing on more melodic hip hop/pop.
Dami: Any artists you working with already?
Chaos0911: Not at the moment. I’m trying to learn a little more before really reaching out to artists. I have a few artist close that I may work with in the future so be on the lookout.
Dami: Can we know a few of these artists?
Chaos0911: They are mostly up and coming artists but I also have one bigger artist I may work with but that will be a surprise. I wouldn’t like to jinx it by releasing names at the moment.
Dami: Are there any producers inspiring your work and sound right now?
Chaos0911: Right now, I really like Graham, the producer behind Nic D and Connor Price's music. He makes really good beats. Also, I am always inspired by my producer friends, KSB and Hanabi. They keep me motivated and teach me a lot.
Dami: How do you hope to grow creatively this year?
Chaos0911: I just hope to make better beats that fit artists’ needs and also develop my ear for the music more. I want to be able to hear a song and recreate the beat. I'm also working on video editing and promotion more to get my reach out there.
Dami: What should we expect from you these coming months?
Chaos0911: The next couple months you should see me dropping more regularly as I’ve been doing these past months and also trying to do a lot more collabs. I will be growing my craft and learning as much as possible so follow my YouTube or Spotify to watch me grow with you guys.
Dami: Can you tell us more about your releases as a producer so far?
Chaos0911: My releases have been just beats made daily. I don’t like to sit on a beat for too long or it may get forgotten, so my thoughts are do as much as I can for a beat and release it then go make another. Learn more and incorporate it into the next beat to be released. Also, I have been venturing into sampling so be on the lookout for more like my track "Breaking Hearts".
Dami: You dropped that to end the year. What was the creative process like?
Chaos0911: Honestly, that track was only like one of a handful of samples I’ve ever used so it was more of a learning experience for me. I was flipping through samples and found one I like then just let my imagination go with it.
